Bespoke Specialist Provision - Parents

Koru Bespoke Specialist Provision provides individually designed support to help your child in education.

School can be a difficult place for many children and the pressures of a structured timetable and a large class can be particularly stressful for children who have additional needs of any kind.

Koru practitioners work one-to-one and provide specialised support to help each child to feel valued and understood. We take a kind and relationship-based approach to meet their specific needs and to equip them with the emotional and relational readiness necessary to deal with the classroom

environment.

Therapists and mentors are matched according to their skills and expertise with each child or young person. Practitioners tailor sessions to offer appropriate sensory support such as low lighting or a quiet atmosphere, and to facilitate a child-centred pattern of creative, physical activities and opportunities for learning and self expression.

We are led by the interests and aptitudes of the child to give them opportunity to feel successful and share their skills and talents. This counters any negative experience of not being able to participate fully with school curriculum and creates a bridge of confidence for them as they return or join their peers in a classroom setting.

Our aim is to create a sense of safety, encouragement and warmth to allow each child or young person to feel their worth. Our priority is to support children to manage their emotions and behaviour if required or to gain confidence and feel less anxious.

We liaise with parents, teachers and other professionals to communicate sensitively about each child's progress and to ensure that they receive the care necessary for them to flourish.

All Koru BSP practitioners have been DBS checked and trained in first aid.
