Mike Harle came to know Koru Project CIC through his Dorset-based work with refugees and asylum seekers. Leading Advisory and Community Services at International Care Network (ICN), Mike’s heart for migrants brought him together with Koru to deliver a series of ground-breaking interventions in 2025.
At ICN, Mike secured a major National Lottery grant for the activities under his leadership. Prior to his time in Dorset, Mike had been Priest at an Anglican Church in Surrey where he seeded new congregations amongst isolated local people and supported individuals and families through their bereavement journeys.
Mike’s business career was principally at Shell. Following graduating with an MBA from Manchester Business School, he led its broad-ranging UK Marketing activity, Shell’s international marketing consultancy and latterly its Aviation sales and marketing activities worldwide. Through this period, he developed a stand-out reputation for creative, insightful leadership and as a deliverer of outstanding results; working extensively in Brazil, Western Europe, North America, the Far East and Africa.
Mike has given his time generously to voluntary governance including: state secondary education, an historic London housing association for low-paid women and a fuel poverty charity.
He is married to Jane Vlach and together they explore the Czech Republic and central Europe through heritage, the arts, sport, travel and language. He now teaches at Masaryk University in Brno, South Moravia. He is from a notable family of writers and musicians and is credited for inspiring Jimmy Carr to begin his career in comedy.
